For the love of Flatware

I developed a thing for flatware sometime in college at Syracuse University where I studied Metalsmithing (see: Dirigible Designs). I think I was looking for something functional, but not wearable and different than a vessel. Thus…Flatware. Since then the history and origins of flatware has intrigued me.

This short article from the Smithsonian has a few good stories about forks and chopsticks as well as some other house hold objects with cool histories.

For some super, sink your teeth in to it, history about cutlery try Bee Wilson’s Consider the Fork.

Some of the strange flatware sets I made in college.
